Needless to say, he’s also often on hand to help out the rest of the family when they need their hair done for big events, including Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner.
If that’s not impressive enough, he’s also Jennifer Lopez’s go-to hairstylist, and even did her hair for her Super Bowl performance.

Humble beginnings
With a celeb clientele like Appleton’s, you’d think he’s been working his way through the Hollywood game from the get-go. But that’s not the case.
The celebrity hairstylist hails from small town Leicester in England, where he got his first hair salon job at age 13 in 1996, as per his bio. After winning Young Hairdresser of the Year in 2010 aged 27, Appleton started working in magazines, styling the hair of celebrities such as Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, per Grazia.

Rita Ora gave him his big break
He’s most famous for his work with the Kardashians and J-Lo, but it was actually Rita Ora that gave him his “big break”. Appleton moved to London in 2016 and started working with Ora, who ended up keeping him on.
“I worked with her one day, and then she never let go of me; she just kept me for two years, and we travelled all over. We had a lot of fun creating short hair, long hair, pink, blue … we’d always change,” he told Grazia.

Appleton also works for some of the world’s biggest fashion houses for their seasonal shows, including Fendi, Moschino, Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Valentino, Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana and Tom Ford.

He’s a doting dad of two
Before coming out as gay in 2009, Appleton was in a relationship with a woman called Katie Katon, who he still considers one of his best friends. The pair have two children together, Kitty Blu, 18, and Billy, 19, who they have co-parented over the years.
His daughter Kitty is a budding make-up artist who recently moved from the UK to Los Angeles to stay with him while she gains experience. If there’s anyone who knows how to make that happen, it’s certainly her famous dad.
