Matheau Moore was charged with killing his wife, Emily Noble, and staging her death to look like a suicide. Where is he now? His biography explored.
Emily Noble died aged 52, just a day after she celebrated her birthday.
On the evening of May 24, 2020, Noble was out celebrating her birthday with her husband, Matheau Moore. They stopped at several restaurants in a popular part of Westerville, Ohio, and then made their way home for the evening.
On the 25th, the Westerville, Ohio woman’s spouse reported to the police that she was missing upon her failure to return home following her 52nd birthday celebration. Shortly, a manhunt was launched.
As police discovered Emily Noble’s body, her case evolved into a homicide investigation. She was found dead with a cord around her neck.
Matheau Moore was indicted on two counts of murder and felonious assault in June 2021 for the death of Emily Noble.
On October 6, 2023, the investigation into Emily’s death is revisited in an episode of Dateline NBC titled The Clearing.
But where is Matheau Moore today? Here’s what we know about late Emily Noble’s spouse
Who is Matheau Moore?
Matheau “Matt” Moore is a 52-year-old man from Westerville, Ohio who recently faced murder charges but was later freed.
The 52-year-old man was married to his deceased wife, Emily Noble, and the duo lived in their condo, off County Line Road north of Uptown Westerville.
Before marrying his late spouse, he was previously married to his now ex-wife, Lisa Pedersen. Before they separated, they were parents to two kids.
Matt was a father of two sons whose names are Joey Moore and Pedersen Moore. Both of his children are dead. Joey sadly passed as a child, but his 17-year-old son, Pedersen, sadly died by hanging in an area park in the summer of 2019 before Noble disappeared.
Emily on the other hand was a widower as her first husband who per Moore’s defense, died in a suicidal manner, adding that it had affected her mental health to the point of no return, per The Cinemaholic.
When Emily died, Moore was charged with her demise and was accused of staging her death to look like a suicide.
What happened to Emily Noble?
On May 25, 2020, Emily’s husband Matheau Moore reported her missing when she did not return home after celebrating her birthday the previous night.
During the night, Emily’s husband got up to use the restroom and then went back to sleep in a guest room, not wanting to disturb Emily. When he woke up later that morning, Emily was gone, and her wallet, phone, keys, and car were still at the residence. Emily has not been seen since the evening she went out for her birthday, and rumors and allegations have swirled around this story from day one.
On September 16 of the same year, the 52-year-old woman’s body was discovered in a wooded area in close proximity to her and Matheau’s home.
At the time, Emily’s death evolved into a homicide investigation.
Her autopsy displayed multiple face and neck fractures consistent with strangulation, per TheSun.
When police discovered the crime scene, the late woman’s body was hanging from a tree with a USB cord wrapped around her neck.
On June 17, 2021, Emily’s husband Matheau was arrested in relation to his late wife’s murder.
Before he was acquitted, law enforcement believed Matheau killed Emily and staged the crime scene to make it appear she died by suicide.
As for motive, during Matt’s August 2022 jury trial, prosecutors alluded to Emily’s life insurance because he’d become its sole beneficiary.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault.
What was Matheau Moore’s trial verdict?
When Matt stood trial in August 2022, his defense team argued that Emily most likely did die by suicide since she’d previously sought help for depression, and so it’s quite possible she spiraled again.
On the other hand, the prosecutors asserted this was a spousal killing so as to benefit from her life insurance policy; plus, she’d exhibited no signs of mental struggles in the days leading up to May 24.
Yet, in the end, following seven days of testimonies as well as 3 hours of deliberations on day 8, Matt was acquitted of all counts since there was not nearly enough evidence against him.
After he was acquitted, he continued to attribute his wife’s death to suicide.
“It’s a complicated issue. If you’ve ever known anybody that’s committed suicide, that story, it’s a complicated one,” he told WBNS.
” If you’re close to someone who kills themselves, I’ve been there twice, with my son and my wife, it’s a very difficult situation to be in.
“There’s no closure with Emily and me and her death, so it’s the combination of being accused of murder, at the same time dealing with that, it’s a pressure and a feeling that I can’t describe.
“Right when I was found not guilty is when I started to be able to grieve her, so that’s why probably I got emotional.
“That was her more than anything else. I could start the grief process with my wife right there, in court, when they said not guilty.”
Where is Matheau Moore now?
On August 26, 2022, Matheau was found not guilty of all the charges stemming from his wife Emily Noble’s death.
“You are free to go,” Greene County Judge Stephen A. Wolves said upon announcing the final verdict on August 26, 2022.
“Mr. Moore, I think from day one, everyone’s wanted justice for your wife, Emily. I’ve heard that phrase a lot; I think everyone truly desires that. But I think the jury has also said that justice for Emily is not injustice for you. And they reaffirmed that.”
Therefore, today, at the age of 52, it appears as if retiree Matheau “Matt” Moore is residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he’s simply trying his best to move on from the past while staying well away from the limelight.
The Westerville man who is freed of murder charges is now an author who released a now-written book on March 2023 about his life and the passing of Emily.
