Frank Baron Obituary, Death Cause – We are writing to inform you of the demise of Frank Baron, who was a co-founder of the Great Lakes Fish Decoy Collecting and Carving Association. It is with the deepest regret that we make this announcement. Frank passed away early this morning, leaving behind a legacy that people who knew and cared about him will always appreciate and remember fondly. Many people saw Frank not just as a co-founder of the company but also as a guide who was willing to share his expertise. As a friend, he guided and fostered a vast number of people, including myself, in the skill of identifying decoys and lures as well as the art of running our highly regarded organization.
The enthusiasm that Frank had for his work was contagious, and he gave it his whole and undivided attention. He had an incredible ability to bring people together, bringing them closer together through their mutual appreciation of fish decoy carving and the Great Lakes region. His absence will be keenly felt, but it is up to us, his pupils and friends, to continue to go in the direction he illuminated. We owe it to Frank to preserve and uphold the ideas that he stood for, and to make sure that the Great Lakes Fish Decoy Collecting and Carving Association survives in the future, just as he had envisioned it would be the case.
The shining light that was Frank’s presence shone into the lives of a great number of people. There is no question in my mind that he is shining brightly and keeping a watchful eye on all of us from wherever he is today. His legacy will continue to be carried on in our tight-knit group through the tales we tell, the methods we use, and the friendships we build with one another. Frank Baron, a close friend of mine, may you finally rest in peace. As we carry on with the path that you started, we shall be eternally inspired by your memories.
